PHILADELPHIA (January 27, 2025) – Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia celebrates YEAR OF THE SNAKE with a “Cai Qing” ceremony honoring Asian culture and a specialty food and cocktail menu at Luk Fu. The Snake is the sixth animal in the Chinese zodiac and this year symbolizes transformation, wisdom, and intuition.
Saturday, February 1 - “CAI QING” Ceremony and Lion Dancers
Live! Philadelphia will kick off the evening at 6:00 p.m. with a captivating traditional “Cai Qing” ceremony (pronounced Chai Ching) at the Darien Street entrance. This visually striking ritual, symbolizing the “picking of the greens” by the Lion is performed to bless the New Year and invite prosperity. After the ceremony, the Lion Dancers, joined by Live! executives will lead a vibrant parade across the property distributing red envelopes to guests as a token of good fortune.
Wednesday, January 29 - Sunday, February 9 – Food Specials and Specialty Cocktail Menu at Luk Fu
Luk Fu, an Asian-inspired fusion restaurant, will celebrate the Lunar New Year with food specials and a specialty cocktail menu.
The Lunar New Year food specials include:
- New Year Lucky Stir Fry 新年小炒 ($28) - Lotus root, carrot, snow pea, and wood ear mushroom with Chinese sausage and Chinese cured pork belly
- Braised Abalone & Broccoli in Oyster Sauce 红烧鲍鱼 ($48)
- Half Oven baked Salty Chicken 鹽焗雞 ($33)
The specialty cocktail menu will feature a menu of festive libations ranging in price from $14 to $20 including:
- Luk-y Buddah - Patron Anejo, Orange Liqueur, Lime juice, Guava Nectar
- Snake Bite - Hennesy VSOP, Ginger Infused Lemon Tea, Ginger Candy Garnish
- Japanese Mojito - Choya Umeshu Sake, brown sugar, mint, lime, club soda
- Green Tea Margarita - Dulce Vida Blanco Tequila, Yuzu Sake, Green Tea agave Mix, Plum Salt Rim
- Hanami (Flower Viewing) - Mount Gay Eclipse Rum, Hibiscus Syrup, Lemon Juice, Club Soda, Hibiscus Sugar Rim
- Beijing Bellini - Vodka, Lychee Syrup, Prosecco, Lychee nut
- Lychee Martini - Haku Vodka, Lychee syrup, Lychee nut
- Orange Blossom Old Fashion - Toki Japanese Whiskey, Orange Blossom Bitters, Luxardo Cherry
