Recognition Highlights Collaboration in Support of Murphy Recreation Center Renovations in South Philadelphia
In February 2023, in honor of Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia’s second anniversary, the world-class gaming and entertainment destination announced a $750,000 donation to Rebuild to support the revitalization of the Murphy Recreation Center. The pivotal contribution allowed Rebuild to make an even greater impact on the new facilities that will be enjoyed by the families and young people of Philadelphia for generations to come.
The $7.5 million project will officially open this spring and include:
- Synthetic turf athletic fields for baseball, softball, football and soccer with new baseball and softball backstops and ball control netting
- New site lighting, team benches and spectator bleachers
- Prefabricated storage building with electrical connection
- Combination of soccer/football goalposts
- New chain link fencing
- New concrete sidewalk in the interior of the site
- Sidewalk reconstruction in portions of the right-of-way of the perimeter of the site, including expanded tree pits and replacement of select trees
- New outdoor basketball courts
- Replacement of below-grade areaway drains and associated piping
- New exterior steps from the sidewalk
- New louvered steel door and frame
- Masonry repairs
