LIVE! CASINO & HOTEL PHILADELPHIA AND SHARING EXCESS HONORED BY PHILADELPHIA BUSINESS JOURNAL AS 2026 PARTNERS IN PHILANTHROPY

Live! Philadelphia Has Made 35,200 Meals Possible By Donating, Sorting and Distributing Over 44,000 Pounds of Food and Volunteering 275+ Hours

PHILADELPHIA (April 13, 2026) – Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia has been honored by the Philadelphia Business Journal as a 2026 Partners in Philanthropy award winner alongside Sharing Excess, one of the nation's leading food rescue nonprofits, in a shared mission to eliminate food waste and address food insecurity across Philadelphia.

What began as a holiday collaboration between the two organizations has evolved into a year-round commitment. Live! Philadelphia invited Sharing Excess to join its beloved annual Community Turkey Day Giveaway in 2024, transforming the tradition into a comprehensive food distribution event.

Live! Philadelphia's Turkey Day Giveaway is supported by a broad coalition of civic leaders and community organizations, including Philadelphia City Council President Kenyatta Johnson, Councilmember Mark Squilla, State Representative Elizabeth Fielder, the Whitman Council, the Veterans Stadium Neighbors Civic Association, the Sports Complex Special Services District, the South Philadelphia Communities Civic Association, and the Stadium Community Council, all of whom have been integral since the Thanksgiving tradition began in 2021.

The partnership with Sharing Excess has since expanded to include summer pop-up farmers markets, warehouse volunteering, and grocery deliveries to senior residents, all resulting in the rescue and distribution of more than 44,000 pounds of food or 35,200 meals made possible. That’s on top of the over 275 volunteer hours contributed by Live! Team Members and more than $5,000 in cash and in-kind donations to the organization.

"Our partnership with Sharing Excess reflects Live! Philadelphia's commitment to being good neighbors to South Philadelphia invested in the long-term health of this community," said Jake Joyce, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia. "Being recognized for the fourth consecutive year as a Partner in Philanthropy is a testament to the incredible work our team members do every day and the power of what's possible when our two organizations come together with a shared purpose."

"Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia has been an extraordinary partner in our mission to eliminate food waste and food insecurity across Philadelphia," said Evan Ehlers, Founder & Executive Director, Sharing Excess. "Their team members have become dedicated volunteers, and their leadership has raised awareness of the urgent need to address food insecurity in South Philadelphia. Live! Philadelphia understands that true community investment means showing up consistently, and that's exactly what they've done."

Live! Philadelphia has been recognized by the Philadelphia Business Journal as a Partner in Philanthropy for its partnerships with Philabundance (2023), Rebuild Philadelphia (2024) and Together We Can Change (2025).

Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia and Sharing Excess look forward to deepening their partnership and continuing to build a more food-secure Philadelphia together.
